Pražská obecní plynárna v Michli

Pražská obecní plynárna v Michli [The Prague Municipal Gasworks at Michle]. Prague: Pražské obecní plynárny, ca. 1928. Oblong 4to. Ca. 40 pp., illustrated with approximately 30 collotype or gravure photographic plates. Original printed wrappers. Very good condition, light wear and border browning to wrappers.

Official commemorative publication documenting the construction and equipment of the new municipal gasworks in Prague-Michle, one of the largest industrial projects undertaken by the City of Prague in the interwar period. The text records the planning and execution of the works, including the involvement of the French engineering firm Compagnie pour la Fabrication des Compteurs et Matériels d'Usines à Gaz and architect Josef Kalous. A presentation page records the ceremonial first visit of representatives of the Prague City Council and municipal authorities on 19 May 1927.

The photographic section provides an extensive visual survey of the gasworks during and shortly after construction, including coal-handling installations, conveyor systems, retort houses, purification equipment, water-treatment facilities, industrial interiors, and general views of the vast complex. The plates emphasize the scale and modernity of the undertaking, capturing the functionalist industrial architecture and advanced gas-production technology introduced at Michle.
