OSVOBOZENÉ DIVADLO – “RAČTE (S’IL VOUS PLAÎT)” / “KUFRY” / “DEPEŠE NA KOLEČKÁCH”

OSVOBOZENÉ DIVADLO – “RAČTE (S’IL VOUS PLAÎT)” / “KUFRY” / “DEPEŠE NA KOLEČKÁCH” (Liberated Theatre program poster) Prague: Umělecká beseda (Besední 5), 16 June 1928. Letterpress poster (31.5 × 23.5 cm). Rare Czech avant-garde theatre poster announcing a one-night program by the Osvobozené divadlo, comprising André Breton and Philippe Soupault’s Dada-Surrealist play S’il Vous Plaît (“Račte”), Jiří Voskovec & Jan Werich’s Kufry, and the first Czech avant-garde drama, Vítězslav Nezval’s Depeše na kolečkách. The performance was organized to coincide with Soupault’s visit to Prague, placing the event at a key moment of direct exchange between French Surrealism and the Czech Devětsil circle. Nezval’s play marks a decisive shift in Czech theatre toward a poetics of associative, emotionally driven expression, abandoning conventional social narrative in favor of constructive, image-based dramaturgy. Staging by Jindřich Honzl, with scenographic collaboration by Jindřich Štyrský and Toyen. Very good condition. Horizontal and vertical folds; minor wear consistent with use. Inv. BF2
