Important early monograph devoted to two of the central figures of Czech Surrealism, Jindřich Štyrský (1899–1942) and Toyen (1902–1980). With an introductory text and poems by Vítězslav Nezval and an epilogue by Karel Teige. Includes photographic portraits by Man Ray and Josef Sudek. Original wrappers designed by Toyen. Illustrated throughout with 180 black-and-white reproductions printed by the Akciová moravská knihtiskárna Polygraphie in Brno.
Original illustrated wrappers. Moderate wear and rubbing to extremities; approx. 1-cm loss to upper left corner of wrappers with accompanying 3-cm closed tear; spine rubbed and creased; rear wrapper toned and soiled. Internally generally clean. A good copy of an important Czech avant-garde publication.
