Minotaure No. 3–4 Picasso Man Ray Breton

André Derain (ed.) – Minotaure No. 3–4 Paris: Albert Skira, 1933. Folio (31.5 × 24.5 cm). 115, [6] pp. Illustrated wrappers. Double issue of the celebrated Surrealist review Minotaure, directed by André Derain. The cover features a stylized bull’s head by Pablo Picasso, one of his iconic early 1930s Minotaur images. Richly illustrated throughout with contributions from major figures of the movement, including texts by André Breton, Man Ray, Benjamin Péret, and others; visual material after Picasso and Salvador Dalí. Notable for its bold typographic design and high-quality heliogravure illustrations, including Surrealist photography, ethnographic imagery, and modernist artworks. One of the most important early issues of Minotaure, capturing the intersection of art, psychoanalysis, and avant-garde theory in prewar Paris. Very good condition: light wear and soiling to wrappers, some handling marks; interior clean and bright with strong impressions. Inv. BX2
