A landmark first edition of modernist typography, richly illustrated throughout with examples of avant-garde design, including work by El Lissitzky, Theo van Doesburg and Ladislav Sutnar. Tschichold’s influential manifesto codified the principles of the “New Typography,” advocating asymmetry, sans-serif type, and functional design, and became one of the foundational texts of 20th-century graphic design.
