Jan Týml – Kříž na rozcestí [The Cross at the Crossroads]
Prague: R. Rejman, 1927. 8vo. 36 pp. Original printed wrappers. Inscribed by the author. Týml’s debut collection of poems. An active editor of youth magazines in the 1930s, Týml later contributed to the Špořilov resistance journal V boj during the early years of the Protectorate; arrested by the Gestapo in 1940, he survived several concentration camps, including Terezín and Gollnow, only to succumb to typhus in Sweden shortly after liberation. Superb avant-garde wrapper design by the academic painter Jaroslav Krátký, co-founder and longtime president of the Association of West Bohemian Artists. Very good condition; a few small spots to upper corner of front wrapper, light age toning.
