1751 Talpa Literaria

[Anonymous] – Talpa Literaria, Operi Utili Vacans et Termille Chronographicis Exstruens, et Exaltans Acervos in Pratis, et in Horto Parnassi… (Talpa literaria) [The Literary Mole, Free from Useful Work, Building up and Exalting Great Chronographic Heaps in the Meadows and in the Garden of Parnassus; (a work) which a blind man, amid darkness, brought to light, and which the benevolence of its patron has published] Veterae-Pragae [Prague]: in Aula Regia, apud Franciscum Carolum Hladky, Archiepiscopalem Typographum, 1751. Small 8vo. Contemporary/early floral pastepaper boards, unlettered. Woodcut title vignette; includes imprimatur and censorship approval (dated 30 August 1751). Uncommon Prague imprint in Latin, presenting itself as a “literary mole” burrowing through chronographic and learned materials. Offered in appealing original/early decorated pastepaper boards, with heavy wear, rubbing, and losses at the spine and edges; binding shaken and should be handled carefully. Internally age-toned with scattered spotting. One leaf missing: pp. 321–322. A charming survival of mid-18th-century Bohemian printing, sold as incomplete. Inv. Ho10
