Czech translation of Ehrenburg’s celebrated satirical novel The Extraordinary Adventures of Julio Jurenito and His Disciples (first published in 1922), a picaresque anti-bourgeois and anti-war work that follows the enigmatic Julio Jurenito and his followers across Europe, Mexico, Africa, and revolutionary Russia. The novel is notable for its early critique of totalitarianism, nationalism, and modern mass culture, and was admired by figures including Lenin and later avant-garde writers.

Profusely illustrated by Adolf Hoffmeister, whose striking full-page colour collages and graphic interventions transform the text into an outstanding example of 1960s Czech book design. Hoffmeister’s visual interpretation combines photomontage, typography, advertising imagery, and surreal juxtapositions, creating one of the most visually ambitious Czech illustrated books of the decade.

An attractive signed copy of a landmark twentieth-century satirical novel, enhanced by Hoffmeister’s remarkable artwork.
