One of Zdeněk Rossmann's finest cover designs. Fresh from his Bauhaus experience under Hannes Meyer in Dessau, Rossmann created a sophisticated typographic composition incorporating a cropped detail from Man Ray's iconic surrealist photograph Larmes (Glass Tears, 1932). The design exemplifies Rossmann's pioneering integration of modern photography and functional typography, anticipating the photomontage aesthetic that would define much of his later graphic work.
