Original decorative wrappers with printed vignette of the steamship Karađorđe. One of 150 numbered copies printed on Dutch simili-japan paper, this being No. 44. Private press edition issued by JUDr. Karel Záhořík of Blovice and printed by Grafické závody Neuber, Pour a spol., Plzeň. Illustrated with photographic reproductions documenting the wreck of the Yugoslav steamship Karađorđe in the Pašman Channel and featuring an original woodcut frontispiece by Josef Hodek, signed in pencil beneath the image. A moving contemporary account of the maritime disaster that struck a group of Czechoslovak Sokol participants returning from the 1930 Belgrade Sokol rally. Combining eyewitness testimony, documentary photographs, and commemorative reflection, the work was produced as a finely printed memorial volume in a small edition. Presentation copy, warmly inscribed and signed by the author on the limitation page to the politician František Lukavský. Very good condition; light crease to wrappers, frontispiece and title page, contents clean and fresh.
