Belgrade 1922 Radovan Tommaseo design
Београд. / Belgrade (Naša domovina / Notre patrie, 4. album) Zagreb: Izdanje Jos. Čaklovića, 1922. Oblong 18 × 28 cm. 13 pp. of introductory text in Serbian and French, followed by 24 full-page photogravure plates (printed to recto only). Original illustrated wrappers in green, white, and red, designed by Radovan Tommaseo (1895–1924), featuring stylized peacocks in a late-Secession idiom. Very Good. Wrappers with light stain and wear; back cover lightly creased; a few leaves with small tears or light creases, otherwise clean and sound. One of the scarce photographic albums from Čaklović’s Naša domovina / Notre patrie series, issued in Zagreb shortly after WWI. The bilingual introduction offers a concise historical sketch of Belgrade (in Serbian and French), while the plates depict principal streets, buildings, and characteristic views of the city in the early 1920s, captions in Serbian and French. A fine visual record of interwar Belgrade, enhanced by Tommaseo’s elegant wrapper design. Inv BX1
