1930 Questions and Reflections - Association Copy Inscribed by Emil Filla to František Venera

Filla, Emil – Questions and Reflections [Otázky a úvahy]
Praha: Společenstvo výtvarných umělců Mánes, 1930. Knihy Mánesa, sv. 3. 8vo. Rebound in plain linen cloth, spine lettered in black, with original front wrapper bound in. Warm presentation inscription by the author to František Venera on half-title: “Příteli Františku Venerovi Emil Filla.” (To my friend František Venera) Owner signature of the art historian Jaromír Neumann on front flyleaf.
An association copy of particular interest: František Venera (1901–1979) was an important collector, editor, and advocate of Czech modern art, closely connected with Filla and the interwar avant-garde milieu. Venera later edited the 1936 Brno monograph Emil Filla and owned works by the artist, making this a significant presentation copy within Filla’s intellectual and collecting circle. With later provenance of the prominent Czech art historian Jaromír Neumann. In Czech.
