1890s Návod k samostatnému naučení nátěru na dřevo
Návod k samostatnému naučení nátěru na dřevo [Guide to Self-Instruction in Wood Finishing]. Oldenbruch a syn & spol. (Oldenbruch & Son Co.), Nuremberg–Dresden–Vienna, n.d. [ca. 1890s]. 5th expanded edition. 4to. 34 pp. Original printed blue wrappers, stapled as issued.
Scarce trade manual devoted to decorative wood finishing, graining, marbling, and imitation veneer techniques. Issued by the German firm Oldenbruch & Son, suppliers of paints and finishing materials, the booklet provides detailed practical instructions for creating faux walnut, oak, and other wood effects, accompanied by numerous colour-printed demonstration plates and illustrations of finished furniture. Several plates show step-by-step procedures for producing convincing grain patterns and marbled surfaces, making the work both a technical handbook and an attractive example of late nineteenth-century commercial printing.
Good condition. Wear and minor chipping to wrapper edges, small losses at extremities, pencil markings throughout, occasional soiling. Staple-bound with an old string hole at the upper left corner, apparently for filing. Internally complete and sound.
