This book focuses on glass and ceramics exhibited at the 1925 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts in Paris, a pivotal event that shaped the Art Deco movement. As director of the Museum of Decorative Arts (UPM) from 1933, Karel Herain significantly modernised its activities and promoted the involvement of Czech applied art in the European context. Herain was a seminal member of the Czechoslovak Werkbund and influenced the functionalist Baba estate, where he had his own house built to a design by Ladislav Žák.
