An early geographical and demographic study by the Czech geographer and explorer Georg (Jiří Viktor) Daneš, issued as no. 3 in the series Travaux Géographiques Tchèques edited by Václav Švambera. Based on statistical and field research, the work examines settlement patterns and population distribution in Herzegovina under Austro-Hungarian administration. The large foldout map visualizes population density by settlement, providing a detailed cartographic overview of the region at the beginning of the twentieth century.

Very good condition. Original wrappers lightly toned and worn, with a ca. 2 cm loss at the head of the spine. Internally clean; pages largely unopened and uncut. Folding map in excellent condition. An early Czech contribution to Balkan geographical scholarship.
