Substantial retrospective catalogue documenting Knížák’s extraordinarily varied practice from the 1950s through the late 1980s, encompassing Fluxus and action art, performances, environments, destroyed and altered records, experimental music and scores, assemblage, jewelry, fashion, furniture and interior design, painting and drawing. Particularly valuable for its extensive photographic documentation and reproductions of original scores, manuscripts, proposals and performance material, much of it relating to work that was inherently ephemeral.
Knížák was one of the central figures of the Czech postwar experimental underground and, through his association with Fluxus and George Maciunas, an important link between the Czechoslovak avant-garde and the international action-art movement. The catalogue accompanied exhibitions at the Dům umění města Brna and Galerie Benedikta Rejta in 1989, at the very end of the Communist period.
