מקראות חדשות א Mikraot Hadashot Aleph 1940s
Mikraot Hadashot Aleph [New Readings, Book I]. Tel Aviv: Masada Publishing House, [ca. 1940s]. 8vo. 158[2]pp. Original illustrated boards. Text in Hebrew. Profusely illustrated throughout with numerous two-colour and full-colour drawings depicting agricultural labour, domestic life, nature, and scenes from everyday life in pre-state Palestine. Printed in Palestine, as stated on the colophon.
An attractively designed Hebrew primary-school reader and language textbook, issued as the first volume ("Aleph") of the Mikraot Hadashot series. The illustrations combine modernist graphic sensibilities with educational themes characteristic of the Yishuv period, emphasizing farming, craftsmanship, family life, and the cultivation of Hebrew language and culture. Includes reading exercises, vocabulary sections, poems, songs, and instructional texts, accompanied by lively black-and-colour artwork throughout.
Very Good condition. Light wear and rubbing to boards, with minor edge wear and a few small abrasions; text block clean and sound. A well-preserved example of an uncommon Palestinian Hebrew schoolbook from the formative years of modern Hebrew education.
