Rare wartime photographic album documenting the city of Lwów (today Lviv, Ukraine) during the winter of 1914/1915, at the time of the short-lived Russian occupation in the First World War. Issued by the renowned Lwów publishers Altenberg and Wende in cooperation with the bookshop of the Hotel George. The volume contains 34 contemporary photographic views of the city, its streets, landmarks, and inhabitants, including striking winter scenes of the marketplace, Copernicus Street, the Arsenal, the Post Office building, and more. It offers a vivid historical record of the atmosphere of Lwów, a major Galician center, in the midst of the upheavals caused by the alternating Austrian and Russian administrations.
