Kurt Janssen – Schriftmusterbuch
Kurt Janssen – Schriftmusterbuch [Type Specimen Book]
Krefeld-Fischeln: Industrie Druck Kurt Janssen, ca. early 1960s. Oblong 8vo (20.5 × 15 cm). Spiral-bound. Ca. 150 pp. Very good condition.
Uncommon mid-century German printer's type specimen showcasing a wide range of contemporary display and text faces, including Helvetica, Grotesk, and numerous serif, script, and decorative alphabets. Each typeface is presented in multiple sizes with extensive specimen settings, letterforms, numerals, punctuation, and practical layout examples drawn from advertising, publishing, broadcasting, and industrial printing. Several sections feature striking modernist typographic compositions in the International Style, including bold Helvetica title spreads, asymmetrical layouts, and colour-printed design studies.
Produced by the Krefeld commercial printer Kurt Janssen as a working reference for clients and designers, the volume reflects the transition from traditional German typography to the clean Swiss-inspired aesthetics that came to dominate European graphic design in the postwar period.
