Scarce early Czech cookbook compiled by restaurateur Karel Šroubek, proprietor of one of Prague’s most celebrated restaurants. Contains over one hundred pages of recipes drawn from the restaurant’s cuisine, including soups, goulashes, sauces, fish, poultry, roasts, game, cold dishes, pastries, and confectionery. Illustrated with photographic plates depicting the restaurant interior and other views associated with the establishment. A fascinating document of pre-First World War Prague gastronomy and restaurant culture.

Good condition. Hinges loose, with corresponding weakness to the binding. Tear to lower spine and a substantial tear to the front free endpaper; light general wear and occasional soiling. Internally largely clean and complete.
