Second edition. 208 pp. Contemporary half calf over marbled boards with gilt-lettered spine and decorative patterned endpapers. An attractive early private binding preserving the front wrapper designed by Teige and Mrkvička is bound in at the rear. A photographic portrait of Vančura has been pasted in as the frontispiece, while the verso of the bound-in front wrapper bears a mounted reproduction of the celebrated later Toyen wrapper design for the novel. The second edition was issued as the fourth volume in the Odeon series. One hundred numbered copies were also produced on Japan Banzay paper, of which nos. 1–50 were signed by the author; this is copy no. 62. VG condition.
