Zay Wood, a Chinese journalist, political scientist, and former Curtis Fellow in International Law and Diplomacy at Columbia University. Wood served as editor of The Far Eastern Republic, president of the Chinese Political Science Association, and editor of the Peking Daily News. The work originated as the author's doctoral research at Columbia University and examines the diplomatic, legal, and commercial background of the Open Door Policy, one of the central concepts in late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century Sino-Western relations.
