4to. Contemporary green cloth, title stamped in black on the upper cover. The first play, Sanitární noc, preserved as a complete carbon typescript on white typing paper with its original typed title page dated prosinec 1976. The second play, Případ pro vesnického policajta, mimeographed on green typing paper, lacking its title page but complete from the dramatis personae onward. Very good condition.

An attractive samizdat volume bringing together two of Pavel Landovský's most important plays from the period of political normalization. Sanitární noc, completed in 1976, is one of Landovský's best-known dissident dramas and circulated in samizdat before its first book publication in exile. The title page identifies it as a "Divadelní podívaná o dvou částech, začátku, přestávce a konci" ("A theatrical spectacle in two parts, a beginning, an intermission, and an end"), set in the "first half of the 1980s."

Bound behind it is an early mimeographed text of Případ pro vesnického policajta (1965), Landovský's breakthrough play, set in a retirement home housed in a former monastery. Together the two plays trace the development of Landovský's dramatic voice from the liberal atmosphere of the 1960s to the sharply satirical, politically charged works of the normalization era.
