Karel Teige – Práce Jaromíra Krejcara 1933
Karel Teige – Práce Jaromíra Krejcara [The Work of Jaromír Krejcar] Prague: Václav Petr, 1933. 4to. 208pp. Original publisher’s cloth, issued without wrappers. Volume 2 of the Edice soudobé mezinárodní architektury (ESMA). Cover and title page designed by Teige; typography by Krejcar. A richly illustrated monograph documenting Krejcar’s architectural work, with numerous photographic plates, plans, and blueprints. Captions printed in Czech with parallel German and Russian translations. A key document of Czech interwar modernism: Krejcar emerges here as a leading proponent of functionalism and purism in Prague, aligned with Bauhaus principles. Associated with Devětsil, the Left Front, and the Club for New Prague, he briefly worked in Moscow in the mid-1930s before breaking with the avant-garde left. His later recognition includes two Grand Prix and a Gold Medal for Architecture at the 1937 Paris International Exposition (for the Czechoslovak pavilion, with Ladislav Sutnar and others). Very good condition. Owner stamp on rear endpaper. Inv. G3
