Presentation copy, inscribed by Jan Mukařovský to the Czech literary historian and critic Oldřich Králík, dated 1 December 1972. A collection of writings on poetics and aesthetics by Jan Mukařovský (1891–1975), a central figure of the Prague Linguistic Circle and one of the principal theorists of Czech structuralism. The association is particularly appropriate: Oldřich Králík (1907–1975) was a Czech literary historian and critic whose scholarly work encompassed major figures and problems in Czech literary history. An appealing association copy linking two prominent Czech literary scholars of the twentieth century.
