With ca. 40 plates, chiefly photographic reproductions of Moravian Wallachian folk life, architecture, and landscape, each with printed captions. Includes depictions of wooden houses, chapels, sculptures, village festivals, and traditional costumes. Plates protected with tissue guards. Rebound in a later green leather-backed cloth album with cord binding; original illustrated wrappers. Issued in 1898 to honor the Czech historian František Palacký, the album was dedicated to the celebration and preservation of the culture and traditions of Moravian Wallachia (Valašsko). A significant visual record of the late 19th-century Czech national revivalist fascination with folk heritage. Very good condition. Owner inscription in top right corner of dedication page. Inv. H9ho
