Official presentation volume promoting the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games, issued shortly after the Soviet capital was awarded the XXI Olympiad. Richly illustrated throughout with hundreds of colour photographs documenting Soviet sport, leisure, architecture, transportation, technological achievements, and everyday life. Dynamic layouts combine full-page, double-page and foldout photographic spreads with multilingual texts explaining preparations for the Games and the Soviet Union's commitment to hosting an international Olympic event.
An exceptionally ambitious example of Soviet design and photographic publishing of the 1970s. The striking binding, featuring an embossed floral textile pattern, mounted photographic inset, and raised Olympic emblem and typography, transforms the book into a deluxe presentation object. Designed by Yuri Dementiev and Vitalii Pashkov, with contributions from more than thirty Soviet photographers.
