1974 Bulletin de Liaison Surréaliste. Signed by Švankmajerová
Bulletin de Liaison Surréaliste, No. 9 (Décembre 1974) Paris: Bulletin de Liaison Surréaliste, 1974. Quarto (29 × 18 cm). Wallpaper wrappers with original metal BLS 9 badge affixed to front cover (as issued), 36 pp. Scarce surrealist journal documenting the renewed Paris–Prague exchange following Vincent Bounoure’s 1974 visit to Czechoslovakia. Includes Bounoure’s important text “Au Lazare affolé par le jour” (B.L.S., no. 9, December 1974, pp. 17–18), written after his June 1974 journey to Prague, in which he describes the cultural suffocation of the period of “normalization” and affirms the decisive role of clandestine Czech and Slovak Surrealism in sustaining the movement’s future. Inv. Bx1 This issue notably presents illustrated texts on Jan Švankmajer and Eva Švankmajerová, central figures of the Prague Surrealist group working under conditions of political repression. Pencil signed by Eva Švankmajerová in the margin of her article. Printed in a limited edition of 300 copies hors commerce. A characteristic late-Surrealist production combining manifesto, correspondence, and experimental graphic presentation; particularly desirable in its original wallpaper binding retaining the issued metal badge.
