1961 Mastičkář: zlomek musejní UMPRUM Bronislav Malý
Mastičkář: zlomek musejní [The Ointment Seller: The Museum Fragment]. Prague: UMPRUM, 1961. 4to. 43 [4] pp. One of thirty copies made by Bronislav Malý as part of František Muzika's select class at UMPRUM (The Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague). Malý created the font, CANTORIA SFM (CANTORIA of František Muzika's select studio), designed and illustrated the book, which was printed using zinc plates at the school's press. Malý would later create the Campana font and was a book designer for the prestigious Artia press, whose foreign language books represented Czech publishing abroad. The Ointment Seller is the oldest Czech drama from the 14th century. Two versions are known of this satirical farce that mocks dubious healers and the conditions in medieval Prague: The first is the "Museum Fragment" Mastičkář (Ointment Seller), which was found in 1822 in the binding of a manuscript from the National Library; the second, the "Mastičkář" is contained in fragments of manuscript of several Latin-Czech religious plays. Malý's book is a reprinting of the museum fragment. The work was banned by the church due to its obscene matter.
