1948 Type advertising monthly complete year
Typ: Ilustrovaný měsíčník pro úspěšné podnikání [Typ: The Illustrated Monthly for Successful Business]. Prague: Reklamní klub, 1948. ed. Jan Brabec. 4to. 1-12. Original issues. Began in 1927, reflecting modern capitalist ethos and design thinking. Suspended during WWII, it resumed briefly before encountering the political and economic shifts of 1948–1949, when publishers like Sfinx were nationalized—leading to its renaming and eventual disappearance. This year, 1948, was the final full year before changing its subtitle to indicate a focus on "new propaganda," reflecting post-war trends. Despite the rebranding attempts, there's no evidence that the magazine was issued post-1949—a sign that it likely was discontinued amid the early Communist era’s media restructuring . Typ was known for its rich visual presentation—layouts, displays, photographs, typographic designs, technical charts—reflecting the standards of its era. Particular emphasis seems to be placed on posters and window displays in the 1948 issues. VG condition. Original wrappers designed by Jan Tišnovský, among others.
