A substantial interwar memorandum concerning the Polish minority in Czechoslovakia, issued by the Commission for the Study of Czech-Polish Relations at the Polish Institute for Cooperation with Foreign Countries. Published in Czech in Warsaw at a moment of particularly strained Czechoslovak-Polish relations, the work presents statistical, demographic, political, and economic arguments concerning the position of the Polish population in Czechoslovakia, particularly in the disputed Těšín/Cieszyn Silesia region.

Complete with the large folding demographic map at rear, “Rozdělení Poláků v československé části Těšínského Slezska,” prepared by Dr. Stanisław Arnold, professor at Warsaw University, at a scale of 1:150,000 and based on the 1930 Czechoslovak census. The map charts, municipality by municipality, the proportion of Polish inhabitants in the Czechoslovak part of Těšín Silesia. This map is still specifically identified in historical presentations of the Polish population of Zaolzie as “Arnoldova mapa.”

The publication formed part of the increasingly heated exchange over the Polish minority during the mid-1930s. A modern historical study notes that it appeared in parallel Polish and Czech editions in Warsaw in 1935 and characterizes it as presenting the Polish side of the dispute; Josef Chmelař's Polská menšina v Československu, published by Orbis the same year, was in part a Czechoslovak response to it.

Very good, with minor age-toning and light wear to the original wrappers; internally well preserved. Folding map present and in very good condition.
