1932 Skleněný havelok Inscribed by Vítězslav Nezval, design by Karel Teige
Vítězslav Nezval – Skleněný havelok [The Glass Havelock] Prague: Fr. Borový, 1932. 8vo. 210 pp. Original cloth binding. Cover, typography, and binding designed by Karel Teige. Inscribed by Vítězslav Nezval to Karel Matoušek, dated Brno, 22 December 1932. A collection of Nezval’s poetry with book design by Karel Teige. Very good condition, with light soiling and occasional spotting to the pale cloth.
Published during Nezval’s transition from Poetism to Surrealism, Skleněný havelok anticipates his subsequent Surrealist work through its engagement with dreams, the subconscious, and automatic writing; its title itself alludes to André Breton’s Nadja.
