MORES, Z.; NOVÁK, I. B.; PLASS, J. Letadlem nad Československou republikou. Příručka pro cestování letadly (s 19 mapkami a 10 leteckými pohledy). [Flying over the Czechoslovak Republic. A Handbook for Air Travel (with 19 maps and 10 aerial views]. Prague: Aeroklub republiky Československé, 1929. 132, [2] pp. Illustrated throughout with route maps, aerial photographs (including Prague Castle / Hradčany, towns, and landmarks), a striking photomontage of aircraft, and numerous advertisements for Czechoslovak aviation firms (Avia, Aero, Walter, Vojenská továrna na letadla, etc.). 18 × 12 cm. Original pictorial wrappers. Inscribed by co-editor Dr. I. B. Novák to General Alois Eliáš (1890–1942). Eliáš, a veteran of the Czechoslovak Legions in WWI and later a general, became Prime Minister of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia in 1939. While outwardly cooperating with German authorities, he secretly maintained contacts with the Czechoslovak resistance and the London exile government, and worked to undermine Nazi control. Arrested by the Gestapo in 1941, he was tried and executed at Kobylisy, Prague, on 19 June 1942, making him the only European Prime Minister executed by the Nazis during WWII. Today he is remembered as one of the foremost Czech resistance martyrs. This rare handbook was designed for early airline passengers, guiding them along domestic and international flight routes (Prague–Brno, Prague–Mariánské Lázně, Bratislava–Košice, Košice–Užhorod, Brno–Vienna, Brno–Kraków, etc.). Each route is described in detail with accompanying strip-maps showing towns, rivers, and landmarks visible from the air. Also includes aerial timetables (Letecké jízdní řády) and richly illustrated advertising for the flourishing Czech aviation industry between the wars. Condition: About very good. Wrappers with light creasing and gentle wear, contents clean and sound. Inv I2
