1914 Genealogical Handbook of Aryan-Jewish Marriages)

Arist.-Jüd. Allianzen. Genealogisches Taschenbuch arisch-jüdischer Ehen. Dritter Jahrgang. München: Kyffhäuser-Verlag, 1914. 15 x 10.5 cm. 609, [3] pp. Original publisher’s black cloth with decorative blind- and silver-stamping on front cover and spine; solid hardcover binding. Textblock clean. Slight bending to back cover; otherwise a good, well-preserved copy. The “Genealogisches Taschenbuch arisch-jüdischer Ehen” (Genealogical Handbook of Aryan-Jewish Marriages) was a notorious publication documenting so-called "mixed marriages" between Jewish and non-Jewish members of German aristocracy and bourgeois families. Compiled in the years before the First World War, it is an early and disturbing example of racialized genealogy, reflecting rising antisemitism in Wilhelmine Germany. Volumes were published in a small print run and are now quite scarce. Good condition. Solid binding, light age-toning, minor wear, back cover warped. Inv. H1
